I have already purchased the components from Adafruit, I realize I will need to create custom software for the Intel Edison however I was hoping to leverage the Arduino code for the Pro Trinket.
ADAFRUIT TRINKET 3.3V WINDOWS 10
If I connect the PN532 V1.6 to my Windows 10 via with the Adafruit FTDI => USB interface cable, is there windows software I can use to validate correct operation of the PN532 V1.6 ? Unfortunately I only had a need for one 3.3V/12MHz Trinket so that's the only one I've tested on. On board is miniUSB connector, through which the system can be programmed via the Arduino IDE using thecable. Miniature module with an AVR Attiny85 microcontroller and is equipped with 8 KB of Flash memory, 5 digital pins, analog input and 2 PWM channels.

For the breakout your connections go through a level shift chip which the 3.3V trinket should not need.

It should work out of the box, minus the udev rule below.
If you want to install the adafruit version, be my guest. Your version of udev may vary on older distros especially. Trinket may be small, but do not be fooled by its size Its a tiny microcontroller board, built around the Atmel ATtiny85, a little chip with a lot of power. I’m on Arch Linux, but other distros will be similar, just find the right paths for everything. I think most of this should work for other Adafruit boards as well. I’m on Linux, and here’s what I did to get the Adafruit Pro Trinket (3.3V version) to work.
